Poole opened their 2019 campaign with the first leg of the Premiership Shield, away against King’s Lynn.
The meeting proved to be a very tight meeting. The scores were level much of the way, with a lot of split heats. Pirates seemed though, to have a slight upper hand in this meeting. This came to show in the decisive part of the meeting.
In the last few heats Poole managed to gain ground with two consecutive 5-1 heat wins. This meant the total score ended up 40-50 for the Pirates. Nicolai contributed with 6 points.
“It was good to get going in the UK. We took it presse easy, but felt good and even though the points are not the greatest I’m fairly happy. I had clutch issues and then in my third ride I made the start, but got took wide and nearly spun around. It’s life and stuff like that happens! I look forward to the first home meeting at Poole on Thursday.”
Like Nicolai mentions, the return fixture is at Poole this Thursday. Hopefully they will take the trophy to make it a perfect beginning to 2019.
