Workington Comets did the impossible yet again by overturning a 18 point difficit.
Scunthorpe beat the Comets last Sunday at their track 54-36 which gave them a 18 points lead going in to the return leg at Workington four days later.
Workington had previously won on aggregate against Edinburgh after being 28 points down and also against Glasgow after being 13 points down on aggregate.
They managed to beat Scunthorpe 62-28 which crowned them Knock Out Cup Champions 2018.
”It was always going to be a very, very difficult meeting for us. Scunthorpe is a great team, but again we showed how good we are and how strong we are at home. This is the first of many, believe me. We can go all the way!”
It’s the first time in Workingtons history they have won a major trophy and this weekend they got the chance to win a further two, starting tonight where the first of two meetings for the league title is raced against Lakeside.
On Monday they race Lakeside again in the 2nd leg of the League Cup Final, where Workington is 2 points up on aggregate and got the final leg at home.
