Nicolai has signed a 1-year deal with Championship side Workington Comets.

When something is meant to be, it will happen. That’s how many people look at things and that is how we look at Nicolai’s move to Workington, here in the middle of December.

“I didn’t expect to ride in Championship a month ago, but Workington came in with an offer and is building a very solid team for next season, which I found attractive. For me it’s all about racing as much as possible in 2018 and riding for a great club like Workington will help me do just that.”

Nicolai is yet to secure a contract in the Premiership and this has meant he has been left with a change of plans for 2018.

“At the moment I haven’t signed a contract in the Premiership for 2018. I feel i have an attractive average, so why I haven’t been signed up yet, I don’t know. I’m sure something will come up. But now my main focus will be on Workington and I’m really looking forward to this new challenge I have took upon me.”

Workington finished 8th in the league table and got knocked out in the 1st round of the Knock Out Cup, which the club is looking to improve.
