Poole faced a difficult challenge away from home yesterday, as they were up against King’s Lynn.
King’s Lynn got off to a good start with a heat advantage. Later on they followed up with a 5-1 heat win. Poole found it difficult to even the scores. King’s Lynn even had a 10 point lead as late in the meeting as heat 10.
Luckily the Pirates started to show their class as they pulled back in the last third of the meeting. Several 5-1 heat wins for Poole cleared the way for their 41-49 win in the end. Nicolai contributed to the win with 8 points in five rides.
“Again we made a comeback, this time behind by 10 points and we managed to win by 8 points. The team performance was unreal yet again! I had to find my feet, which I did. I felt really good in the last three rides and it was only mistakes in the first corner that cost me a point or two. I went back to basics this week and it has seemed to work well, at least tonight. Really excited for what the rest of the week brings!”
Tonight, Tuesday, Nicolai is on track for his Swedish club Lejonen. They take on Smederna from Eskilstuna, at home this time.
