Poole got the better of King’s Lynn yesterday, at home at Wimborne Road.

They now head to the Norfolk Arena, having to defend their 16 point lead, after winning 53-37.

Poole started off flying with four straight 5-1 heat wins and a 4-2 heat win to follow up, putting them in the lead by a massive 18 points. But King’s Lynn were desperate to fight back and quickly minimized Poole’s lead to 8 points. But after a few split heats, Poole started to gain ground again and managed to gain some of the lost points to secure the win.

Nicolai top scored for the Pirates with paid 13 points.

“We couldn’t wish for a much better outcome, despite leading by 18 points before only being up by 8 points before heat 12. So a 16 point lead is good, but still a very long way to go as King’s Lynn are just as good at home as we are.”

“I personally had a good night, but I am very frustrated about heat 15 where I tried to ride defensively to let my team mate around, just to open the door wide open for Robert Lambert. So it’s a great shame, but there was a lot of positives to take forward for tomorrow.”

As Nicolai mentions, the return leg at King’s Lynn is tomorrow. We hope you are all cheering on the Pirates, either at the venue, on TV or via live updates.
