Poole Pirates went from bottom fo the league to Premiership Champions in 2018.
With a 16 point lead Poole put them self in the best position possible going into the 2nd leg of the Premiership Play Off Final against Kings Lynn. Even thought they lost 51-39 on the night they won 92-88 on aggregate and was crowned 2018 Premiership Champions.
It all was done and dusted in heat 14 where Nicolai along side Frederik Jakobsen secured the title with a 3-3.
“It has been an amazing season for me at Poole and to be in the heat that secured us the title is unbelievable and still hard to believe. I’ve worked so hard this year personally to get back to my best and to achieve what I’ve achieved so far, I couldn’t have wished for.”
“For me personally on the night, it wasn’t the best of nights. The setup on we went for was wrong as we expected the track to be different to what it was for the first heat, but we got it sorted after that and had a steady finish to the meeting. But I knew it wasn’t going to be easy as Kings Lynn is so strong at home.”
It is the first time since 2009 that Nicolai has won a British title where he won the league with Wolverhampton.
We would like to thank everyone at Poole Speedway for this year, our sponsors and the fans who has been there week in and week out.
