Yesterday Nicolai rode in the semifinal of the Danish Championship, but it proved to be a tough night.
Nicolai came out flying with a heat win, but then he ran into trouble, with a few good starts that were then called back, as well as touching the tapes two times after some very slow moving tapes. This meant he only finished on 4 points and far from progressing to the final, which would have been on one of his favourite Danish tracks in Esbjerg.
“I made the start twice where it was called back and twice I dropped the clutch when I saw the arm move, but the tapes didn’t go up. I can only blame myself and can’t do anything about the results now.”
“It’s not an excuse, but there was 12-14 restarts due to either movement or people that went into the tapes because they went up mega slow. I got caught out, but it’s a massive blow as I believe I could get a top 3 finish in the final at Esbjerg.”
Nicolai will have to get back up on the horse tonight, when Workington go up against Glasgow on home track.
